"One Sunday evening I was phoned by a very concerned person. He said that he was reponsible for five fast food outlets and had no trouble with staff, overseeing finances, dealing with customers, or with the council. But twice a year he had to go to a meeting in Taupo and give an address to the National organisation. He said he had just got back and it was a disaster and that if he couldn't lift his performance, his whole career was at stake. His wife had looked up the Toastmaster phone number and so he had called me. 'I know what it is like', I said, 'your  knees and hands shook, you couldn't breathe properly, and you couldn't say more that three words at a time without running out of breath'. There was a silence at the other end and then he asked 'have you heard about it already?' 'No', I laughed, 'it's called a panic attack and quite common. "I had been a Toastmaster previously and experienced that a gap of couple of years was enough for me to start losing the public speaking skills that I had gained. I wanted to join a club in the city so that I could fit it in around my work. I selected Capital Toastmasters because in addition to the day and time of the meetings suiting me, I felt that the group was diverse, skilled and experienced to help me improve.
